As the total population reported from the 2010 Census was 28.3 million, we'd be hearing even higher vaccination rates already if that number was actually being used. But as a matter of fact, the population data that the government uses, as revealed on the official GitHub, puts the total population at 32.7 million. This is in line with the latest population estimates published by Department of Statistics Malaysia. The UN World Population Prospects also gived a similar estimate for Malaysia population at 32.78 million in 2021.

Nope, the data itself is not the problem, it's how they present it. I dig through the data they gave us and they include what vaccine and what dose it is. They lump the cansino with 2nd dose together, even though it's 1 dose vax and for the cansino they need 28 days to be considered fully vaccinated, where for the 2 doses need 14 days.

Not sure which statistics you were referring to but OWID imports vaccination data from CITF, whilst Google and covidvax.live imports from OWID. OWID updates its data at around 10AM GMT or 6PM MYT daily. So, there will be a delay of the latest data, but the vaccination number should be the same.

If you look beyond the official socmed and go to raw data it's currently sitting at 19.3 million actually. But registration is still slow, maybe they can consider mandates as they already didn't rule it out when supply exceeds demand.

The data source for COVID-19 is taken from disease.sh since I can't find the government APIs and the vaccination is sourced from my backend which get data from CITF-Malaysia repository.

KL at 101.6% vaccinated
That's because according to their current population statistic this data is based on, KL's adult population (18+) is 1,348,600. As you can see, this complicate matters. If an immigrant is vaccinated in KL, does that count as KL's dose? Does the population account for migrants? If a Selangorean got vaccinated in KL, does that count as Selangor or KL? Is it according to your current address?
