How do mutation categories and purifier work in the new system?
Also what do the colours mean on https://cdda-guide.nornagon.net/ ? Does purple mean it's a 0 cost negative mutation? Likewise does yellow mean it's a 0 cost positive mutation?

Is there a in-depth guide to both cdda and npc factions camps.
The most in-depth guide I’d say is the hitchhiker’s guide to the cataclysm, which is an item, enemy, trait and (kind of?) location browser. I say kind of because you can’t just look up “hospital” or “light industry” but it’ll tell you morphine spawns in a hospital, and a jackhammer will spawn in a light industry with x% chance. It also circumvents the issue of being outdated by basically using the source code (I think?) for item info. Idk how much this helps considering the original question, but might as well throw it out there

There needs to be more to do mid and late game.
Sky Islands is a complete game style changer as it makes it a sort of raid thing instead of persistent and dying does something different.

What's the best storage garment for Sky Islands?
(If you're not familiar with Sky Islands, it's a mod where you make timed "raids" from a home base and instead of being permanent, death boots you back to your base without any of the items you brought or found)

Being a mutant is rough
(p.s. if you're interested in an environment that puts a premium on permanent buffs like mutations, maybe give Sky Islands a try. I'm about to go chimera there myself because it seems like the perfect environment to be a living weapon)

Savescumming?
I hate savescumming, but find permadeath excessively harsh. Right now Sky Islands feels like a good compromise; no permadeath, but lose all your current gear when you kick the bucket.

How to download mods?
I want to download the Sky Islands mod from GitHub, but I don't know A. Where to download it, (from github) B. How to actually get the mod to be an option to play. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

This game is rough, man
The Sky Islands mod reminded me about loop of rope, a deceptively useful 0-skill craftable container. Slow, awkward, noisy, and items fall out when you're grabbed, but it lets you carry lots of long/large items and you can swiftly drop your load when you need to move quietly, run, or fight. There's also the shoulder strap weapon mod that autolearns at fab 1 and the slightly more demanding single point sling at tailoring 1 that also accommodates many melee weapons. Never leave a first-day shotgun/rifle behind again!
