My theory is that the 'bottleneck link' changed from your DSL network to your home router (incl WiFi LAN) when you moved to Comcast. If that theory is correct then the network buffer you need to manage is on the Asus router. Since you run the Merlin and they have Cake SQM/AQM available, try turning that on. https://github.com/ttgapers/cakeqos-merlin

Using a router as a reverse proxy?
If you're running Merlin's firmware on the router, you can install nginx on it and configure it as a reverse proxy. I haven't tried it, but here's one of many tutorials...
