Light hotspots pushed back another week
The Light Hotspots activation is the largest update to the Helium network since Validators last year and the core developers have been working hard to ensure a smooth deployment. This week the core team identified a few changes that require another update by various network participants and is moving the activation date to provide participants ample time to upgrade. No action required by Hotspot owners. To ensure blockchain components continue to work as expected we request all network participants upgrade their software to the appropriate version listed below by 2022-05-11 00:00:00 UTC. Activation of Light Hotspots will take place shortly after. Note some components will have releases later this week but we wanted to communicate this change early. - I implemented a verkle tree database. It is an alternative to merkle trees based on pedersen commitments. The proofs and database are smaller than an equivalent merkle tree.
- I programmed a verkle tree in Erlang. It is a more scalable alternative to merkle trees that makes statelessness work better. Ethereum is planning to use this kind of database.
- I made a Pedersen verkle tree. It is a more-scalable alternative to merkle trees, that will allow Ethereum full nodes to be stateless.
