Daily General Discussion - October 23, 2023
I'm trying to access some pools through the balancer front end, it doesn't work for me. When entering balancer.fi I get a malwarebytes warning and if I ignore that the app.balancer.fi gives me an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. I remember they struggled with a phishing attack or something like that a while ago, but I thought that was resolved. Also, I can't ask in their discord because the link to discord doesn't work either....

real world use case for Algorand
and the 2i2i coin is still the project coin, also for fairinbox ~ i am waiting to have a balancer.fi style treasury to open trading for the 2i2i coin ~ and i have created a PR that allows the creation of such a FairTreasury, but the inc/foundation is moving very slowly, if at all ~ i want everyone to share in the value fairly ~ but maybe i will open trading sooner, because i really need funding

So is everyone just going to jump ship now?
I also have a PR waiting for the CTO's inspection/approval/whatever that would add lots of further unique power to Algorand ... but its been months and no progress from Algorands side ... if ever they decide to use it, I will help Algorand (this PR would e.g. allow Algorand to have balancer.fi style contracts and much much more) ... EVM people (Consensys) have already expressed more interested in my Algorand PR (to add the same power to the EVM) than Algorand ppl (foundation/inc)

please support the linked PR to add a whole universe of dApps to Algorand
it would allow many types of financial, scientific and mathematical dApps. it would also allow a balancer.fi style smart treasury on Algorand. taking roots is fundamental in finance e.g.

Charity and crypto
Pooled assets earn interest in a decentralized non-custodial liquidity market protocol called Aave. You can withdraw your crypto and exit the pool at any time. Note that neither Crypto for Charity nor JustCause will ever have control over your assets so you will always retain custody of your assets.

Smart Contract Security Field Guide
These are collateralized loans that are automated with "smart" contracts. Programmable money.
Who? Anyone who wants to provide liquidity. Is this different from existing solutions? Yes and no, the difference is that there is no human intervention here... you don't have to ask for permission. You're also dealing with a global pool of funds using open source technology, instead of just a single bank or service.
The only additional "fees" above the interest rate are the cost of a transaction on the block chain. There are certainly a lot fewer hands in the pot and overhead.

Bitcoin: Addressing the Ponzi Scheme Characterization – Lyn Alden (2021))
> That's a totally valid use case and possible today. The best part is that I don't need any sort of permission to do so. No credit checks. No banks. No government involvement.
Because that is definitely something that regular consumers do and a problem that needs solving.
> In fact, it is so possible, the market for this on a single platform is over $7.8 BILLION. https://aave.com/
What you've just showed me is effectively an actual ponzi scheme all built on nothing with no doubt there is artificial inflation going on there.
