I'm using swarm mode right now between two servers and that's just to have network connectivity between all docker containers on both hosts via an external overlay network for my reverse proxy so I don't have to deal with open ports on the host. I have my compose files publicly available here https://github.com/GeorgeGedox/compose-files split in branches if you want to take a look, it's a bit outdated at this point since I'm in the middle of an infrastructure clean-up.
