I suggest you look for modern cmake, it is really useful to learn and much powerful and portable than make have a look here: https://github.com/onqtam/awesome-cmake there is examples, articles and talks.

Anyone else get frustrated when a block of time you wanted to spend to learning code instead goes into why some software isn’t working right on your computer?
