Motion planning, reasoning, and continual learning can be as far away as image generation was in 2017 (do you remember those messes that sometimes resembled the topic? https://github.com/robbiebarrat/art-DCGAN for reference ). GATO, GPT-3 and various continual learning approaches are roughly at the same stage now.

I'm a programmer by profession and an artist by hobby. I used to make a lot of digital art in my youth, but not so much at all in recent years. A couple years back I started to take on acrylic painting. I really sucked and still suck at it, but I'm pretty good with Photoshop and quite OK at problem solving in general, so I work around my lack of painting skills by sketching everything in PS, defining palettes beforehand, using a projector for sketching the initial perspectives on the canvas, etc. etc.
What are some alternatives?
