Issue with Snap Store launching
I don't think the snap-store client itself is proprietary. It's a fork of an old version of GNOME Software, which is being replaced by a new rewrite using Flutter.
- Will Ubuntu 23.04 "Lunar Lobster" have the new Flutter based Software store?

Has anyone installed the flutter Ubuntu store or the mint software store? Pop (elementary) store, like most distros is problematic even she left in the background.
I have read about this new version of Ubuntu store that canonical may adopt, that is said to be responsive and is written in flutter: https://github.com/ubuntu-flutter-community/software Also the mint store is known to be quite responsive but I don’t know what the name is or if it can be installed on others. Has anyone done either??

The new Ubuntu software app feels very nice and smooth, i hope it becomes the default in Lunar Lobster
I mean right now the devs' official stance is that they do not want to add Flatpak support. Not that they can't, not that they'd welcome someone else doing it/helping out with the work, just that they straight up do not want Flatpak support. Source

Ask HN: Cross-platform GUI apps in 2024
I haven't personally used it. However, I did watch a guy build from scratch his desktop client for his VPN using wails (https://wails.io/) + Golang. It actually went pretty smoothly and quickly. When I did build a production app with Electron (a few years ago granted) I ran into distribution difficulties as well. It's doable, but it was a pain. Specifically what was a pain was auto-update.
