There's also this very useful script that changes the username colour of users with a blanket permission statement, adds a search filter for works by users with blanket permission statement, and adds a link to their statement to their profile page.

Podfics Voice
Blanket Permission Highlighter - changes the colour of the AO3 username for authors who have a blanket permission. (You should check their statement though!)

Fan-works etiquette
Some authors have a blanket permission statement (linked) in their bio. You can also use FPS List to find authors who give blanket permission. (For AO3, you can install this browser extension that changes the colour of an author's name if they have an FPS list entry.)

Looking for fanfics to translate
Sorry, I stand corrected. It's grown so massive, you have to use the browser extension and use AO3's search engine. Still, it's a good way to find people who have already given permissions.

Is there a place to request/fulfill requests for podfics?
It also helps if authors have a Permission Statement or contact details on their profile. Here's a neat explanation of what that is by the person who runs the Blanket Permission Database, there's a really cool extension that highlights authors who are there so you can know without looking it up. (keep in mind that we manually add authors to this, so people not highlighted might have a statement, especially in smol fandoms. I sometimes try to go through the tags for my new baby fandoms to find new people, and hope that helps.)

Any tips how to start making pod fics?
It's common practice to either get permission before recording, or to record works that already have permission (sometimes called "blanket permission" although technically "blanket" means without terms or conditions, and some writers who allow transformative works DO have conditions on that. Rindle's Fandom Permission Statements list is a database of known authors with permissions (various volunteers scrape through authors and update the database in an ongoing fashion). If you use Archive of Our Own, Brickgrass's browser extension, linked to the list, highlights authors with permission statements in green, and will change your life.

Creating a podcast where we read fanfiction.
Brickgrass used the fps database to create a browser extension that works with TamperMonkey to highlight authors with blanket permission in green when browsing on a desktop. That's here: https://github.com/BrickGrass/Blanket-Permission-Highlighter
