In order to play music on my speakers I have Jellyfin running in a Firefox tab on a raspberry pi connected to the speaker. It works most of the time but needs to be restarted every once in a while. Is this a silly way to achieve this "cast to speaker using pi" goal? Is there a better way?
There are also alternate front ends to airsonic like tamland airsonic refix which work well on mobile/small screens.

Problem with installing Airsonic-refix
All music shows up in Refix, but you can't choose folder. You shouldn't change anything in airsonic-advanced. If you are using Nginx proxy manager, just add a new host for refix. Ex. airsonic.domain.com and refix.domain.com Are you using Portainer to manage docker containers? Watch this. https://github.com/tamland/airsonic-refix

Airsonic (Advanced) vs Clementine (Linux player)
I would recommend checking out airsonic-refix. I switched to it maybe a month ago and it works well. It is definitely limited but it's the best compromise I've found so far.

I'm looking for a subsonic-compatible media server that uses directory structure rather than just meta tags to organize the files
I've also used airsonic-frontend to stream on my laptop. Are you aware of clients that allow browse by tag mode to be set? Gonic is great and I'd rather use it than airsonic as it's so lightweight.

My 4th Hacktoberfest PR
For my fourth issue I wanted to find something a bit more challenging, so as I was searching around I came across a cool WIP application being created by one developer. She was creating a desktop client for Looperman, which is a cool website that houses a pro audio community that shares music loops, acapellas, vocals, beats, and much more. It is like the opensource equivalent for audio, where you can share your work and get feedback/help from others, or help others as well. This app is still in its early stages of development so I was able to contribute by adding a new volume slider feature. The issue was that whenever the user would preview audio clips it would only be able to play at 100% volume, so for user experience she wanted a volume slider to be added. This was a fun issue to work out as I have never worked with audio files in javascript, so it was a great learning experience.
