How do I download **just** the apk from Google Play Store?
If you have paid apps which rely on the play services because they check if the license is valid, you could use YalpStore + MicroG. Note that they are actually trying to mimic the play services and actively communicate with googles servers.

Why is the android app always consuming CPU when "idle"?
The lazy programmers are using deprecated code from https://github.com/evernote/android-job to create alarms, but that project is no longer maintained, and is probably very buggy, and they are most likely using the API wrong in the first place.
