Download this, extract it and open a cmd in the extracted folder. Run gradlew.bat run and it should run XiaoMiToolV2. Try to unlock the bootloader from there (select the unbrick option, select your device and it will ask you if you want to unlock).

I'm using Linux on both of my computers, and XiaoMiTool didn't work natively. I tried running a Windows 10 VM in VirtualBox, but neither fastboot, nor MiUnlock seems to see the device, even after installing the drivers, and enabling USB passthrough… Does anyone know how I can get this to work? Would really like to use a custom rom on my phone…

I have a MI 10 phone (8 Gb ram, 256 Memory, global version). A few weeks ago, my phone got into a reboot loop, and I tried everything to get it out of the loop, but I couldn't. Since my bootloader was locked, I had to install a ROM that did not require an unlocked bootloader. Using XiaomiTool V2 and its bricked phone option, I successfully installed the only possible ROM with this option which was an MIUI 13 fastboot ROM, and my phone works properly now. However, it does not detect my sim card, and because of this, I also can't unlock the boot loader to install another ROM to see if the problem goes away.

I chose "Global" region and logged in, it required 2FA to be sent to the phone. 2FA entry form didn't quite fit the window but I was able to enter the code and authenticate, then after a warning screen it showed the above confirmation.

Apparently, SMAPI for Android is still in Alpha testing, according to this tracking ticket, and there will be issues. Even technically saavy people are having problems. As I understand it, it is only one person working on converting this and it appears they have their hands full with making it happen. Pathoschild, who is porting SMAPI to 1.5, has also been given source code access to make the mod integration better for 1.6 so a little patience while it all gets sorted out would be prudent. He is just one person.

Download and install SMAPI for android here. The version she used in that video would have been version v3.7.6.10, which is a short distance down the page, not the most recent update.

That's not up to date. Expanded also does not currently work on Android anyway. These are the instructions, but keep in mind, most mods are not working on the current build.
