When you download the undead people tileset (the new one) it comes with a folder for mods support.

UndeadPeople Status
Yeah, still pretty active, though not the most active tileset anymore. I think they are currently trying to incorporate the whole new variant system for items. This is the most current version of it, as far as I know. https://github.com/Theawesomeboophis/UndeadPeopleTileset

Regarding Ultica tile set.
Undead People is under new ownership and is regularly updated, but it's no longer included in the launcher so you have to download and install it from GitHub yourself.

Which one is the most complete tileset?
Don't forget there is an updated fork of Undead people. It looks great and covers almost everything. It even has additional graphics for mods

The most complete and supported tileset for experimental
In alphabetical order: Altica, BrownLikeBears, Chibi-Ultica, Cuteclysm, Hollow Moon, MSX, NeoDays, RetroDays, SurveyorsMap (overmap only tileset), and Ultica. On top of that there's Mushroom Dream https://github.com/AlbertTheTerrible/Mushroom-Dream that's not shipped with the game by default.
