Garmin foot pod calibration
Actually I have the footpod speed/distance turned on permanently, as - while running outdoor - this results in more reliable speed readouts. Please see my mini-benchmark here.

Recommendations for cheap footpod compatible with FR245
My forerunner 945 usually shows almost the exact distance as the treadmill does. Plus, it can be used for better speed, cadence, and distance when running outside (see for example here.
