Entry level playout system
You should look into Sofie. It's "channel in a box" type automation software based on CasparCG. Setup may be a bit challenging, but they do provide fairly comprehensive installation and getting started instructions, and it seems to be very user friendly once it's up and running

Not sure if this matches your Vizio/how correct the documentation is but there appears to be an api exposed by the tv that includes some endpoints for device status: https://github.com/exiva/Vizio_SmartCast_API
- Vizio Mobile app is garbage. Can Tasker turn my Smartcast TV's on/off or change Input setting?
- Any TVs with an API?
