    This is the hook implementation I came up with.     If you want, you can use my use-ergo-state package to solve this. If you don't like the idea of adding another package to your repo you can literally copy & paste it out of my Github as it's under 50 LOC but it effectively permanently solves stale state closures (though you can still have stale props).
