I use സ്വതന്ത്ര മലയാളം Computing's Indic keyboard with ലിപ്യന്തരണം option for Malayalam. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.smc.inputmethod.indic. This mode uses Mozhi keymap. It is an open source project, https://github.com/smc/Indic-Keyboard
