Inspired by Terraria, 7 Days to Die, and more, Rebirth of the Night is a Minecraft 1.12.2 modpack with its own progression system, lore, mechanics, and art. It's built with the idea of remembering the central themes of what made Minecraft enjoyable and expanding them in every way, increasing the overall risk and reward as you progress. i’ve also heard rebirth of the night is good, but i haven’t played it so i can’t vouch for it. it is quite popular though, so that’s probably a good sign

If you want a better "hardcore" modpack, Rebirth of the Night is a classic. It's a bit old on 1.12.2, but it's actually well put-together.

Will we ever return to the golden age that was 1.12.2?
Of course, pack authors always have the choice to choose a "target version" and stick with it. Some modpack efforts have done just that (GT:NH, ROTN). But mostly we're subject to the whims of Mojang, for better or worse. And I think I would say better. There's few other games that have a modding community as fleshed out as this one.

If you want to start off easy, maybe try a kitchen sink pack like Direwolf20 1.19, or if you want combat, a pack like Rebirth of the Night or Vault Hunters

What are the possible ways to define block metadata in a mod's config?
I've also searched github for any projects that used PrimalCore, and the only one I could find is SevTech, but the only metadata used is "minecraft:fish:1-3" in the STEPPE_WOLF_FOOD_BLACKLIST on line 1090. But I've already tried using ":" to define metadata so I'm not sure if only that list uses it or what.

Stuck in Age 2 - Cannot Craft the Coal Engine
Reading the issue (https://github.com/DarkPacks/SevTech-Ages/issues/1657) posted by u/InturnetExplorer, it's possible that you need some progression in AS to be able to craft the coal engine.
- Will there be a modernised version?
- Refined storage's crafter is glitching and duplicating?

Pumpjack turns invisible
It was already posted a few years ago but no solution was found so I came here to see if anyone had anything new about it https://github.com/DarkPacks/SevTech-Ages/issues/2727 The final "solution" they posed was to rotate the multiblock 90 degrees, but I tried that and that didn't work for me either. :/
- Ore samples have not spawned in age 1.
- Can't get "Under Pressure" advancement?
