You said you want to use the cam in a photo booth. Why do you need to see a video stream via a webcam utility. Wouldn't image capturing be enough? There are projects online that would do what you probably intent to do, for example I found https://github.com/PhotoboothProject/photobooth

Raspberry Pi dashboard https://github.com/femto-code/Raspberry-Pi-Dashboard is a nice status dashboard. You can access it from the mobile browser to check on the pi.
