Should I try Paradise Station ?
You don't really see controversial changes get merged. The only example I can think of is Secborgs getting removed, but even then most of the community agreed with it.

Leaving Paradise as a regular, can anyone recommend a good fit?
There is a pr for combat rework, where ranged instastuns get removed, but that might take a while to get merged. https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/15708

Since Pride month is starting, I feel like I should remind you all that SPLURT's codebase has all LGBT+ based holidays including said Pride month removed to this day for being "cringe" according to Mosley/Bonga.
