Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Typography help!
I'm trying to replicate this image by Jacob Stanton. I found a very useful geometry library PGS by Michael Carlton for generating contoured outlines. The class method (offSetCurves()) I'm using is the second image.

Great question, and one I’m interested in too. I planned to look at a solution over the next couple of weeks. I was going to look at a library like this, https://github.com/PyMesh/PyMesh, which could automate it.
