r/sonyalpha OpenMemories App... still working in 2022?
There's a list of supported cameras on the readme page here.

Looking for a cheap camera that has no recording limit.
This doesn't apply to the a7iii, but a bunch of Sony cameras (the ones that run android for their menu; confirmed list) can use OpenMemories: Tweak to remove record limits. Installation is basically installing an app on your computer, connecting the camera, and clicking a few buttons (instructions).

Sony camera adds English menu/a1 a7c a7m3 a7r3 a7m4 a7r4 a9m2 fx3
👨🏻💻If your camera is a very old model, you can add languages through a third-party cracker, it is free 👉🏻 https://github.com/ma1co/OpenMemories-Framework/blob/master/docs/Cameras.md

The features that more cameras should have
You can actually mod them and write your own apps. There are even FTP or SMB apps for the sony alpha cameras: https://github.com/ma1co/OpenMemories-Framework/

Yongnuo YN455: A New Android-Powered M43 Mirrorless Camera
Kind of, but not really. There used to be an Android subsystem on Sony cameras, but that is no longer the case. Sony cameras were never based on Android and used a real-time OS just like every other normal camera. The last model to support this feature was released years six years ago and as /u/StillUsesWindowsXP mentioned, there is no way of installing APKs the usual way. And if you're a professional photographer, you prefer not to rely on hacks anyway.
