It works by setting itself as the default browser; any clicked links in non-browser apps are now sent to Browserosaurus where you are presented with a menu of all your installed browsers. You may now decide which app you’d like to continue opening the link with.

Ask HN: How can I make links open in Incognito by default?
Since you mention Mail/Messages, I assume you are on macOS. I had a similar issue - wanting to always open links from Slack in Chrome, but links from elsewhere in Brave. I use Choosy[1] which works well for me, but there look to also be some free/libre alternatives, like Browserosaurus[2] (which I've never tried).

Closest is probably Browserosaurus, which will prompt to choose which browser to use whenever you click a link.
