Widget Stacks are now stable!
Next on my wishlist: Tasker integration (#786 is open since 2019 *sigh*), or at least some customization regarding favorite lists, similarly to the audio apps.

Can I launch google tv remote with a task?
Incase someone doesn't have root, you can you can use TaskerLauncherShortcut plug-in and project that uses ADB Wifi to do it. It's very well documented.

You can likely use TaskerLauncherShortcut for your use case and you have root so no adb issues to change launcher.

You don't need to read the documentation for how the app works, it's only for people who want to understand the details and why stuff doesn't work anymore.
