  • Best library to build a web blog in pure Rust?
    6 projects | | 6 Dec 2022
I would personally still choose the non-rust solution astro for this kind of jobs, because of it's open, efficient and very flexible design, but zola is a strict rust based alternative, if you are willing to accept all its idiosyncrasies and limitations.

Next.js is also a pig. Look at the front-end source output of Next.js on and and you can see just how terrible it is. Even when it doesn't need to -- since it has already SSR'd the page -- it will send back the model in JSON on the page itself because it isn't smart enough to decide if the front-end React components will need it at client runtime. Contrast that with say Astro.js which has much cleaner output than Next.js and the ability for front-end code to opt-in to receive back-end data.
  • When can you declare yourself a Full-stack Dev?
    8 projects | | 2 Dec 2022
For example, I suppose that to be a self-proclaimed full-stack developer in JavaScript, you have to know at least one front-end framework (like Vue, React, Angular, Svelte, Astro etc...), know the basics of the backend and its specificities, especially Node.js and all its aspects, know one or more frameworks (I think of Express.js or Fastify), know how to create an API and databases, and know the principle of MVC in order to set up a good architecture.
  • Want to create attractive, interactive docs? Use these amazing documentation tools and examples
    11 projects | | 2 Dec 2022
The Astro framework takes this further in their docs, by coordinating the selection of their tabbed instances in the same page. For example, in the guide on Integrations, they have instructions on how to add the correct packages for the integrations. They have a tabbed view with a tab for each of the most popular package managers: npm, pnpm, and yarn. Selecting 'pnpm' in the first instance, switches the active tab to 'pnpm' for all tabbed instances in the page.
  • A good Material UI Lib?

    1) Vite - the Svelte homepage recommends this, but note it lacks a router 2) Astro - which is awesome, but make sure you do your research before diving into it. The hydration process with the island architecture has a learning curve 3) Routify - I'm not familiar with this, just seen it around.

  • Raneto or Hugo for Notes/Knowledgebase?
    3 projects | | 28 Nov 2022
Neither, I recommend you do Astro, and using an MDX plugin like me to generate notes (Or in my case, blogs), If you want more help, my discord is there in my website.

As u/bitdoze mentioned, Astro could be a good choice if you do need the power of frontend JS components. It's one of the newer options out there and gaining traction quickly, but because it's newer it might not have as many resources available.

I chose to work on 2 or more smaller but related issues. The issues I chose were from a project that I've previously worked on called Astro Reactive Library. This project builds components and architecture for other projects that use the Astro framework for their reactive user interfaces.
