Vue is only used for hyperchat as of now. The chat messages are retrieved via monkey patching fetch. The renderer uses a vue virtual scroller. Nothing insane is done on our end, it's just that youtube's chat is being bad for some reason. The code for the hyperchat renderer is at https://github.com/LiveTL/chat/blob/master/src/App.vue if you are interested.
