Looking for an alternative game library manager similar to GOG Galaxy
I like https://github.com/tkashkin/GameHub. However, it has some caveats.
-
Anyone using a launcher?
Right now there's Steam, Heroic (Epic, Gog), Itch, Gamejolt, Humble, etc. Nothing really integrates all of them except GameHub and it's inactive and doesn't have EGS support.
-
Is the Gamehub official site legitimate?
The Github directs users to https://tkashkin.tk , which redirects to a very sketchy site/sites.
-
Any Third-Party steam clients?
Some that I have found: - GameHub (Neat project, but does not support the usage of proton or wine for steam games - PlayNite (Only supports Windows at the moment, Linux support will come some time in the future) - steam-tui (A little too bare-bones for my taste)
-
What frontend do you use ?
Attract mode and GameHub also support adding other games besides emulated ones.
-
App ideas for GNOME (GTK4) Vala?
Idk if this is up your alley, but gamehub is a program I use daily and from what github reports, it's 95% vala.

New user here; in my opinion, Linux gaming is already nearly identical to gaming on Windows
Bonus: Since you mentioned GOG and some ROMs, check out Gamehub, it's a game launcher (like Lutris) that combines gog, itch, humble, steam and emulators. Looks really nice and its pretty easy to use. Specifically for GOG it has a way to automatically download and install the games on your account.

how can I sync my GOG Galaxy cloud game or download my save files? (Blasphemous, Gamehub)
There is the GameHub issue related to this: https://github.com/tkashkin/GameHub/issues/630 documentation linked there is made by us - the Heroic team.
-
GOG finally remove the false "in progress" note about GOG Galaxy for Linux
I use GameHub for managing Gog games, it even has joypad support.

How can I back up my games?
The tool that people often recommend is Ludusavi. I don't know how they play with VN's very random location of saves, though, and even then I mostly use it on Linux where it's easy (if fairly space inefficient) to backup an entire wineprefix/steamcompat folder.

What is the most painless way to share ROMs and sync saves between multiple devices on three different operating systems?
Ludusavi https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi — this looks like a very neat program but it’s designed for native PC games, not emulation, and I’m not sure how well it would work. Anyone use it for emulators?

How to backup saves?
ludusavi would be something to look into. It can backup saves, which is what you're after. Most of the time it gets the full save location correct, but make sure. As you don't want to waste time "backing up" to realize it only found the games settings.

[PSA]Back Up your Emudeck Saves.....NOW
i know this comes late, but for anyone who hasn't yet heard of it, there's ludusavi

Ludusavi can now back up your game saves to the cloud and detect Lutris saves
I don't have any definite plans right now, but I would be interested in exploring it. I just opened a ticket to track the idea: https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi/issues/211
