I've been investigating in order to start developing a new theme. I've seen that themes like underscores ( https://underscores.me ), FoundationPress ( https://github.com/olefredrik/FoundationPress ) or HTML5Blank (http://html5blank.com , this one doesn't even resolve DNS) are dead. Other themes like Sage ( https://roots.io/sage/ ), Tonik (https://github.com/tonik/theme) or Barebones (https://github.com/benchmarkstudios/barebones) seem to require node and it seems like they aren't being currently developed.
