Mojang releases a new Minecraft update which includes a player report system, and its community manager confirms, much to the chagrin of /r/Minecraft, that they're not planning on changing it. Downvoting ensues.

There have been many exploits in the past where fake reports could be generated, potentially more that are privately reported. Mojang has already delayed the release of 1.19.1 multiple times to get the system perfect. From the sound of it, there's a huge rework in place for 1.19.1 pre-release 5 which hopefully fixes the exploits for once and for all, but we won't really know until security researches poke at it when it's released.

For server owners too, this is would be a lot more effective. https://github.com/Oharass/FreedomChat If the owner does not want to install such plugin, then at the very last have enforce-secure-profile set to off as its defaulted to on. This allows the chat mod to work on the client side.
