the advanced editor is not open source, so it cannot be added on f-droid. It is available only via Google Play or get the proprietary app variant from Github at https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-Gallery/releases

If you are going to break that habit, and I'd sincerely encourage you to do so, try out Simple Gallery. It can do a lot more than Sony Gallery, is open source (meaning free, no malicious code in any way and getting updates) and you can effectively report bugs if you encounter any.

I'm not seeing a similar issue posted on Github. I agree this is frustrating. I've tried different photo gallery app and storage solutions but unfortunately always come back to Google Photos. It's really good. I'm hopeful that PhotoPrism will offer a competitive hosted solution soon with a reasonably priced family plan.
