There are a couple open source breakout boards for both the adns 9800 and pmw 3360. I've received the parts for the pmw breakout, which I'm currently gathering the courage to solder. You might want to look into an SMT assembly service to make your life easier

Trackball requires a trackball sensor breakout board. I have my own breakout board that I offer, but I also tested with the charybdis sensor pcb ( https://github.com/Bastardkb/charybdis-pmw-3360-sensor-pcb )

Unfortunately yes. I'm going to remove the sensor breakout board and try it with a different mcu just in case, but I highly suspect that my sensor (or the breakout board is at fault.

At the same time (when it's ready... still have to do build guides and finish firmware) I will open source the 3d files like on the rest of m designs. The whole thing is made to be handwired, but does require a few PCBs to make your life easier: a custom PMW3360 sensor PCB, and an elite-C shield including a connector for the sensor PCB.
