First custom build - Dactyl Manuform R-Track with Pro Micro and ADNS9800
However I switched the PWM3360 from Jacks enterprise with a similar ADNS9800, due to high shipping cost from US to Australia. It's based on https://github.com/mrjohnk/ADNS-9800 , since it has all the pcb files and part list open sourced, I sourced the parts individually from Taobao (the Chinese version of AliExpress) and assembled myself. There's a difference in hole position but that can be solved with some hot glue :)

There are a couple open source breakout boards for both the adns 9800 and pmw 3360. I've received the parts for the pmw breakout, which I'm currently gathering the courage to solder. You might want to look into an SMT assembly service to make your life easier
