  • The build_app function creates a Dash app that displays some text, an image, and some dynamic functionality. I've omitted some of the code for brevity, you can find the full code on Github. I wrapped the instantiation in a function that allows me to pass additional arguments to the apps' constructor.

  • Pandas

Flexible and powerful data analysis / manipulation library for Python, providing labeled data structures similar to R data.frame objects, statistical functions, and much more

  • Dash is a Python framework that enables you to build interactive frontend applications without writing a single line of Javascript. Internally and in projects we like to use it in order to build a quick proof of concept for data driven applications because of the nice integration with Plotly and pandas. For this post, I'm going to assume that you're already familiar with Dash and won't explain that part in detail. Instead, we'll focus on what's necessary to make it run serverless.

  • serverless-application-model

The AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM) transform is a AWS CloudFormation macro that transforms SAM templates into CloudFormation templates.

  • There are many options to deploy Serverless Applications in AWS and one of them is SAM, the Serverless Application Model. I chose to use it here, because it doesn't add too many layers of abstraction between what's being deployed and the code we write and our infrastructure is quite simple.
