Surfingkeys VS tridactyl

I don't mind posting it, but be aware it's not an Obsidian script, I use from the browser, using it from an extension called SurfingKeys

I empathise with the author wanting to make a buck but it's hard to reconcile the approach he took with the level of trust granted to this extension.

Was this issue about the bundled search hijacker resolved in some sort of positive way? I abandoned SurfingKeys as soon as I heard about that and haven't looked at it again. It'd be nice if that was all rolled back, but I switched to Vimium and haven't found it to be particularly worse, at least not for the way that I browse the web. The only thing that I've been missing is the vim-like text editor but, for me, that's a relatively minor feature; I don't write giant comments that often.

Moved from it in favor of more features that surfingkeys provide. If you know a little bit of javascript you can conquer your browser!

Tridactyl's key feature is "native messaging".

A further alternative is https://github.com/brookhong/Surfingkeys. Its key feature is a javascript configuration - allowing you to bind arbitrary javascript to a key.

All my points stand

* VimFX still works in the latest release of Firefox

* If random people on the internet can square it, so probably could the Firefox team, they didn't need to keep all features

* They decided to handicap their addons to match Chrome, because "security" and lost users

* Chrome is now doing the same

The changelog shows a fix this month for the firefox 127 this month, the current version is 126. And the readme clearly states firefox-esr 115. You don't get more working than than

Any other recent extension needs way more maintenance to keep up with the constant evolving of the WebExtensions apis. And you can look at their logs, much more work for a worse user experience

It's really cool, I've added an option to open these windows in floating mode automatically in my sway config through another application name iirc. Ans then I press a simple shortcut, and it opens my editor (Helix) with the already entered text and once I close it, it'll transfer the text from that temporary file which was open in your editor to the the input field/textare again.

Wait until you find out about Tridactyl [0], which, among a plethora of other features, can activate a command line where you can perform all these searches (for example, `:tabopen` will list and activate fuzzy search of all opened tabs).

Nearly everything on reddit uses reddit-flavored markdown. Backticks for inline code, as you discovered, but indent code blocks with four spaces. I use a browser extension so that I can edit all my comments in Vim, so manipulating this markup, especially code blocks, is easy.
