    Project mention: Ticks and Subticks | /r/GlobalOffensive | 2023-09-11

The subtick architecture gives you more opportunities to provide the server with input. In the case of your game running at 300fps, the game will divide the framerate by the tickrate (64) which is 300 / 64 = 4,6. Rounding the number down gives you now 4 slots for input. The actual logic is a bit more complex and takes into account the last time input was sent, but we can ignore that here. Now you can send up to 4 inputs (for example, shooting) to the server that is handling the current tick. In addition, and this is the important part, every history entry also contains timing information at which fraction of the tick your input happened (it also contains information about your shooting position, fps and interp - see: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/Protobufs/blob/master/csgo/cs_usercmd.proto - but it is unclear how much of that information is going to stay for subtick and how much is for debugging purposes).

  • tf2-patches

Team Fortress 2, but with a lot of fixes, QoL improvements and performance optimizations!

Project mention: Meme collected from Twitter | /r/tf2 | 2023-05-29

They did recently added community fixes from mastercoms and makaroffilya in the March 1st and March 20th update. So I'm 100% certain that they'll add plenty of fixes from Team Comtress 2 (which is now TF2 Patches) and probably whatever they'll find from the workshop for this summer update.

  • AMP

Issue tracking and documentation for AMP (by CubeCoders)

Project mention: Is the Proxmox Firewall secure enough to run a VM as DMZ? | /r/HomeNetworking | 2023-07-17

I understand this is a rather specific use case but I'm not exactly an expert this. I have an old PC that I'm converting into a AMP (https://cubecoders.com/AMP) server to host game servers as opposed to renting them from various providers. I don't know much about the concept of a DMZ server, I know it functionally runs outside of the network but not much past that. My ISP makes it difficult to port forward but there is an option to enable a DMZ which I understand allows all ports, and it appears to be simple to open and close ports in the Proxmox firewall. Which leads me to my question: Is the Proxmox firewall secure enough to run as a perimeter defense or should I look into other options? I'm also looking to expand my networking knowledge so any explanations for suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
