  3. gentle-ai

Gentle-AI configures the AI coding agents you already use: Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, Codex, Pi, and more. Choose persistent memory, Organic-Driven Development, curated skills, MCP servers, personas, and optional bounded review. Open source, no agent lock-in.

Project mention: Custom Workflows in SpecKit Companion | dev.to | 2026-10-05

One that caught my attention is Gentle AI by Gentleman Programming. It's an ecosystem configurator that transforms AI coding agents into comprehensive development systems. It takes a different approach to SDD: instead of one AI doing everything, it delegates to specialized sub-agents for each phase — explore, specify, design, implement, verify. One command sets up the entire workflow, and it pairs perfectly with SpecKit Companion's visual interface.

  4. cc-sdd

Turn approved specs into long-running autonomous implementation. A minimal, adaptable SDD harness with Agent Skills for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, and Antigravity.

Project mention: I Refused to Write Specs Until Claude Code Generated Wrong Code Three Times | dev.to | 2026-05-19

This isn't original to me. The 2026 wave of spec-driven tooling (OpenSpec, cc-sdd, amux, Kiro) is all built on the same observation. GitHub Copilot Workspace doesn't even let you skip the step: it generates an editable "proposed specification" before it touches code, because the team that built it figured out that the spec is the only artifact in the workflow that the human can actually review.

  5. pilot-shell

Professional context and harness engineering for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. Build production-grade software with spec-driven development, TDD, persistent memory, quality gates, code intelligence, human oversight, and end-to-end verification.

Project mention: Pilot Shell: Spec-driven plans; enforced quality gates; persistent knowledge | news.ycombinator.com | 2026-07-03
  6. spec-kitty

Spec-Driven Development with organizational governance. Specs tell AI agents what to build; Charter governs how they build it. Git-native missions, enforceable workflows, and consistent engineering standards across AI coding agents and harnesses.

Project mention: Read the Spec: Lock Intent Before you Implement | dev.to | 2026-05-20

Spec Kitty is an open source SDD framework for agentic coding. Try it out!

  7. get-shit-done-redux

    Getting Shit Done, the Aftermath

Project mention: We need a deterministic Governance Layer for AI coding Agents | dev.to | 2026-06-09

I built Get Tasks Done from get-shit-done to provide a lightweight, deterministic state machine layer for AI-assisted development. It bridges the gap between high-level human intent and execution AI agents by turning specifications into granular execution tasks using leveraging a GitHub-native integration. Instead of a fluid, unpredictable implementation step, GTD structures development into explicit, auditable stages: Product Intent ➔ Markdown Specs ➔ Granular GitHub Issues ➔ Atomic PRs

  8. cavekit

A Claude Code plugin that turns natural language into blueprints, blueprints into parallel build plans, and build plans into working software with automated iteration, validation, and cross-model peer review.

Project mention: Why I’m Cautious About AI Gateways After My Bifrost Collaboration | dev.to | 2026-04-29

  15. leanspec

Lightweight, flexible Spec-Driven Development (SDD) for modern AI-powered development

Project mention: Introducing LeanSpec: A Lightweight SDD Framework Built from First Principles | dev.to | 2025-11-27

That search led me through several existing tools—Kiro, Spec Kit, OpenSpec—and eventually to building LeanSpec, a lightweight Spec-Driven Development framework that hits v0.2.7 today with 10 releases in under three weeks. This post shares why I built it, what makes it different, and how you can try it yourself.

VS Code extension for spec-driven development — manage specs, workflows, and steering docs for AI CLI tools (Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI)

Project mention: Build Log 3: Turbo Mode and the Fast Path | dev.to | 2026-10-05

The public backlog tracks every step as it merges. Star the repo to follow along, and I will see you at Build Log 4.

Project mention: I built a spec-driven workflow for my AI coding agent. Here is what actually mattered. | dev.to | 2026-07-03

So I stopped prompting and started specifying. I packaged the workflow I settled on into an open-source kit for the Pi coding agent, called pi-sdd-kit. This post is about the two design decisions that actually earned their keep. The rest is detail.
