What you are describing is more or less the actor programming model. (If you’ve heard of Akka, then you’ve heard of the actor model.) Loom is an enabling technology for implementing the actor model on the (vanilla) JVM, and a lot of people are looking forward to that, including me! So that’s a perfectly valid approach.

BTW, Compose Multiplatform basically hard deprecates all other UI frameworks for Java, especially if you are using Kotlin. Try it out and you will NEVER go back.

WatermelonDb is also worth checking out: https://nozbe.github.io/WatermelonDB/. It requires you to set up your tables with inserted & updated timestamps for the sync, and you should also use UUIDs for the primary keys on your tables.
