  As for mods that are good in general, HUD mods, Simple Crosshair (Motion dot is bad) and Intro Cinematics are all very nice mods to have imo (For HUD i use WolfHud, although people dislike it for some reason, so an alternative is Vanilla Plus. If you end up going with WolfHud i recommend you download a mod that fixes one of its more glaring bugs, the fact that elements can sometimes get stuck on the hud. The fix is here.). And finally for this bit, Reversed Flashbangs is a must for me, since i have dark mode on EVERYTHING, getting flashed at 2 am usually isn't healthy for your eyes.

  Not quite sure why you'd want to modify the reader. There's a boatload of WiFi ELM327 dongles for under $20 on Amazon. You can tap a 5V line to power the ESP32 in the vehicle for something permanent or use a power port for something portable. If you want to easy mode it, use something like the Elmduino library.

  Don't underestimate the appeal of small utilities. The elementary appcenter has nice little tools like this or this, and Mint has warpinator. Unity used to have some nice little helpers, too. For instance a HUD. Lets make a list of tools (or browse OMGUbuntu) and pick the top 20. Maybe includin this. Make them available on Pop and make the top 5 part of the default installation.

  I am currently using a modified StratuxHUD version (https://github.com/JohnMarzulli/StratuxHud - a fork from US thread) on my Stratux with both 1090 and UAT SDRs, Antennas, GPYes 2.0 GPS receiver and AHRS module. Currently I see very few GA traffic unless I am close to the US border. There is a lot of FLARM and OGN traffic in my area that doesn't show up in my version of Stratux. It is important to note that I do not have any ADSB-Out device for ground (US) or sattelite (Canada) communication. Under CIFIB (https://cifib.ca/) initiative there are some nearby towers that broadcasts weather over the 978 and depending on my location I occasionally receive those data.

  Use dgVoodoo 2. If memory serves, the widescreen patch (https://github.com/xan1242/hp2wsfix/releases) should also do the trick as it contains DirectX 8 to 9 converter.
