  • buster

Captcha solver extension for humans, available for Chrome, Edge and Firefox

Project mention: AI bots are now better than humans at decoding CAPTCHAs | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-08-17

The captcha buster extension[^0] along with the service on you computer to move the mouse for you works very very well. It uses google’s TTS (afaik) to transcribe the audio captcha. It’s google verifying another google service works well. I find it very satisfying to not provide my labor to train googles computer vision corpus but instead have the snake bite it’s own tail.

Anyway, I highly recommend buster, I barely notice captchas anymore with it.

  • stylus

Stylus - Userstyles Manager (by openstyles)

Project mention: Nepal bans TikTok and says it disrupts social harmony | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-11-14

I used a Firefox add-on called "Stylus" and wrote a custom css rule to hide the relevant divs/elements. It's not perfect, but it's okay. https://github.com/openstyles/stylus

However, after the recent ad-blocker targeting by Youtube I pretty much just stopped watching. I added my regular subscriptions to the NewPipe app on my phone and just watch what they put out.

The add-on I mentioned above is super useful to personalize my experience with other websites. Particularly online-shopping and other marketplaces that have huge amounts of whitespace for no reason. You'd be surprised how much nicer the web experience is after you add a few "margin: 0px;" css styles to strategic areas.

  • notion-enhancer

An enhancer/customiser for the all-in-one productivity workspace Notion

Project mention: HELP PLEASE I AM BEGGING HELP I WANT MY PRETTY COLOURS | /r/Notion | 2023-12-11

So I've been using notion enhanced for a year now, and it's all been working fine and dandy until a couple months ago, and now whenever I try to open it, it's stuck on the loading screen. I deleted it and reinstalled it like 5 times, deleted notion and reinstalled it, restarted my computer and nada. Still not working. Google sends me to github (like for example https://github.com/notion-enhancer/notion-enhancer/issues/812 this is literally my issue) but ya girl doesn't understand anything and commands scare me. I tried to follow what the nice internet people said to do, but I don't know what I'm doing and it didn't work. I'm losing my mind and my grip on reality. Please someone send help.
