Project mention: Continuous Deployment on Shared Hosting with GitHub Actions | dev.to | 2021-05-02

I have been using shared hosting for a long time and I got bored with transferring my files via FTP every time I made changes. I then resorted to using GitHub where I pushed my code to the repo then pulled it from my shared hosting. I still was not satisfied. I used GitFtp which was alright. Until I learned about CI/CD in my Azubi Africa class.

  • GitHub repo ffsubsync

    Automagically synchronize subtitles with video.

Project mention: Usually, the subtitle that matches the show is really off sync and I have to move it forward for 15 secs for it to be in sync. Increasing it by 50ms per click takes a hell lotta time to reach 15 secs. Is there a way to raise the subtitle fixer time up from 50ms (for example for it to be 1 second)? | reddit.com/r/PleX | 2021-06-13

I believe bazarr uses the FFSubSync library to sync the subs, it's really awesome!

  • GitHub repo nb

CLI and local web plain text note‑taking, bookmarking, and archiving with linking, tagging, filtering, search, Git versioning & syncing, Pandoc conversion, + more in a single portable script.

    Project mention: Note Taking in 2021 | news.ycombinator.com | 2021-06-16

I use nb (https://github.com/xwmx/nb) and sync to gitlab. The best part of nb, is that you can bookmark a url, and nb will keep a copy of the page with the bookmarked url. So if the page disappears later, you still have a copy with your notes.

It's all stored as markdown, so you can go in and edit the page. nb also syncs automatically every time a note is edited.

Because I started my program a while ago (and I'm now well past the coursework phase), there were some packages that hadn't yet been developed (or were in their infancy) but that I absolutely wish I'd had at the beginning of my program for taking notes on courses and readings: org-noter, org-roam, org-ref, and org-roam-bibtex. Since you're just starting out in a program, you might take a look at these. (I plan to implement these fully into my workflow once I get a bit more time.)
