  • base-drafts

Internet-Drafts that make up the base QUIC specification

  • Project mention: Multipath TCP for Linux | news.ycombinator.com | 2024-04-19

QUIC is a step backwards here; it has no multipath support: https://lwn.net/Articles/964377/

Multipath: There are several areas where TCP still has an advantage over QUIC. One of those is multipath support. Multipath TCP connections can send data on different network paths simultaneously — for example, sending via both WiFi and cellular data — to provide better throughput than either path permits individually.

Server connection migration is explicitly forbidden by QUIC:

  • to-title-case

A JavaScript method for intelligently converting strings to title case.

  • Project mention: "Smart title case" Action / Perl or JS help please | /r/LaunchBar | 2023-06-14

A good starting point would be a JavaScript case converter by David Gouch. The code looks very neat, but I couldn't get it to work because I am not a programmer and I don't know how to get the input correctly in the context of a LaunchBar Action.

  • standards-positions

WebKit's positions on emerging web specifications (by WebKit)

  • Project mention: iOS404 | news.ycombinator.com | 2024-04-16

You can check why Mozilla and Apple have opted to not support this.

    https://github.com/mozilla/standards-positions/issues/154

    https://github.com/WebKit/standards-positions/issues/28

Neither Mozilla or Webkit are satisfied that the proposal is safe by default, and contains footguns for the user that can be pretty destructive.

  • directories-jvm

a tiny library that provides config/cache/data paths, following the respective conventions on Linux, macOS, BSD and Windows

  • Project mention: Where should I store user files, like config files for a project? | /r/learnprogramming | 2023-05-30

There exists the xdg base directory specification (https://specifications.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html). This is hard to understand for a beginner so I would advice to use a library that implements this specification for example for java you have: https://github.com/dirs-dev/directories-jvm

  • XRPL-Standards

  • Project mention: XRP Ledger AMM Bug Fix Now Integrated: A Detailed Analysis | dev.to | 2024-04-12

AMMs provide a new way to convert between assets that complements the DEX’s order books. Unlike offers, which have fixed exchange rates, the AMM exchange rate varies continuously as liquidity is consumed from the AMM pool according to a constant product formula (see XLS-30 for details). The payment engine needs a way to compare the discrete liquidity from an offer with the continuous liquidity from an AMM to provide the most cost-efficient path for payments.

  • Project mention: How do you go about a PR as a Senior Developer? | /r/ExperiencedDevs | 2023-05-04
