  • proposals

    Tracking ECMAScript Proposals

Project mention: At Least Skim The Manual | dev.to | 2024-01-08

Then there are proposals for new features. Some proposals move through quickly, though some of these will never make it into the spec. They can be available months or years in advance through Babel plugins and other tools. Be aware that these allow you to write code that may never become valid JavaScript, but they can be useful for simplicity and readability, so long as you understand the requirements.

  • fslang-design

Project mention: My Thoughts on OCaml | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-04-25

The C# compiler got a ton of new smarts around reference type nullability and almost all of the BCL (.NET standard library) got annotated for it. I don't know when F# will finally pick up all the new compile-time smarts for Nullable Reference Types, but it has been proposed and prototyped, at least [1].

Project mention: What the imperative shell of an Functional Core/Imperative Shell language looks like | /r/ProgrammingLanguages | 2023-05-07

I like it. Modern languages that distinguish between pure and impure programs like Flix, Koka, and Effekt do so on the type level instead of syntactically. This has three advantages:

  • inet-cute

An implementation of interaction nets. -- ASCII art inspired syntax. -- Pure postfix expression. -- Using a stack-based low-layer language to build nets.

Project mention: Show HN: iNet – a new programming language for interaction nets | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-09-06

I will not miss an issue there :)
