It just so happens that I've been a full-time software developer for the past decade that also contributes to open-source regularly. I was just debugging an issue (surprise, for free) in https://github.com/hotwired/turbo before I read your comment. I don't like appealing to authority, but since you asked - my opinions come from a place of experience.
