  • Vue with TSX - the perfect duo!?

The reason I’ve just walked you through the generic Vue 2 TSX setup isn’t really to showcase “how to” do it. It’s to show you “how flawed” the whole process is. Sure, it might be useful when converting an existing project or boilerplate, but most of the time, you’ll do just fine with Vue CLI and a proper set of plugins or a no-config bundler like Parcel or Poi. However, this won’t fix the plethora of potential setup issues or lack of in-depth documentation. More than that, none of these ways will grant you proper TSX experience, as you might know it from React.

In short, it does exactly what it promises with a really low learning curve. Furthermore, something really neat that comes in the mix is the example directory, which is just a playground React App to test your code. Unlike TSDX, which uses Rollup bundler, it uses Parcel to get it running (not super important, I just find it interesting). You can import the bundled package code into there to battle-test it.

You want to build a simple Single Page Application using ParcelJS. ✅
  • I don't want to do front-end anymore
I went through the same struggle until I discovered https://parceljs.org/, it lets you organize the project as you would in the good old days while importing the modules you need. You can also use niceties of ES6 (e.g. modules) and scss but you don't have to. A life saver!

Use Parcel instead? Also a widely used build tool, but has a lot of opinions so you don't have to.

Parcel 1.x (and a little bit of 2.x)
  • made this during past week after i saw cool things around here
It was a nice project to test some stuff. There's a bundler named parcel Js but no framework. it's html-css-js. The graph is made with apex-charts. i choose it because i was I was looking for something light. I just played with the options to find a nice line. i can push the source code if you are interested to have a look... and thx for the kind words

  • A relief - updating my Wordpress theme development setup
    dev.to | 2021-01-31
While searching for a CRA like developing experience for developing Wordpress themes, I tried different task managers, bundlers and tooling setups. All promised to do the job and I’m pretty sure they are able to do it, but I was surprised how difficult it seemed to be for me to enable a simple list of features I aimed for. I tried webpack setups, wpack.io, gulp, grunt and parcel and started out with a basic list of demands:
  • Parcel 2 alpha TypeScript RFC: Parcel 2 alpha's default behavior is to strip out TypeScript with babel and treat it like plain JavaScript. No type checking, no tsconfig.json, etc. Want first-class default support for TypeScript in Parcel 2? Comment in this RFC.

    > Even though Parcel gives you these things completely for free, out of the box?

Not only is it free OOTB, but iirc you can't turn it off[1]. So OP might be using it unknowingly. 0 config means just that, for better and worse.
