I am sadly only an old WebDeveloper, but I was wondering if it would be possible to create a "quickalign" feature within the OpenVR Space Calibrator .
  • G2 + index controllers = grey screen in some apps.

There's a fix for the grey screen problem in the app Stop Sign VR. (I'm the dev.) The app has a custom boundary system developed with WMR + Index controllers in mind. The grey screen with seated games problem on WMR+Index sets is fixed 'behind the scenes', just let the app autostart. (The fix is currently only in the beta branch but will move to the public branch this week, if all goes well.) I posted about this on the SpaceCalibrator github page.

I think one thing that you should do is open an issue on the OpenVR Space Calibrator github here: https://github.com/pushrax/OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator/issues explaining the issue in depth so they can take a closer look at it and see if they can adjust for this on their end.

  • Do the Index controllers keep their tracking quality in a mixed VR environment? Is any of that quality "lost in translation"?

The math for how space cal solves smashing the two systems together is laid out on their GitHub. It indeed samples the pitch/roll/etc, from both sides, then sets up a system of equations that cancels out the numbers on both sides until all that’s left is the difference, giving you the common space. At least that’s how I understand it!
  • Fix for Steamvr controller bindings not working on many games
    reddit.com/r/HPReverb | 2021-01-10
First you setup your Reverb G2 with Windows and WMR, including the controllers. Then you install WMR for Steam VR on Steam, then you will need to pair your Index controllers to your dongles. Insert one USB, pair the controller, and remove it. Add the other USB, pair the other controller, then it should work just fine, then you are ready to start combining your G2 and your Index Knuckles in VR space

Also they're working on an update to allow you to strap a vive tracker to the headset so you wouldn't need to calibrate at all. https://github.com/pushrax/OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator/issues/30
  • No hate... The Index is amazing but what can it do that the Quest 2 can't?
Basically, the main reason to keep the index would be full body tracking support if you are interested, either through the Index itself or paired with your Quest 2 using OpenVR Space Calibrator. It sounds like you don't care about the Index controllers but you could always use them with your Quest 2 using the same tool too.

Pushrax replied to my issue and apparently it has been reported in the past in issue #23, just under a completely different description ("scale factor"). https://github.com/pushrax/OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator/issues/45
