  For anybody wondering on the build: it's a Seeeduino Xaio (smallest arduino with usb I could find) running a simple key press script. This video gave me the idea, and he has posted arduino code on github too. I bought the button on amazon (100 for $5), and soldered it to a small piece of protoboard with foam underneath which is glued to the bottom half of colored rocker sticks I already had. (The proto board probably isn't necessary, but it gave a flat base to glue to the flat top of the stick, and made it easier to make sure the button contacts weren't touching the metal stick.)
