AI Coding at Home Without Going Broke
Codex is much more subscription-efficient than Claude.
Having said that, I think there is a question of how far we can push this and not collapse under the weight of tech debt created, e.g. https://openai.com/index/open-source-codex-orchestration-sym...
I think the dream is basically that you go and file a bunch of Linear tickets, and then you come back a day later to evidence of the tickets being resolved and the code merged. I don't think we're super there yet (See: Anthropic's regular bugs in everything), but this is the future that people are trying to get to and to some extent the question is: is there anywhere we can apply this to now sanely? How does this frontier evolve?

The AI Engineering Baseline
Tools have been trending in this direction for the last 3-6 months with features like "Assign to Copilot" in GitHub.com, and the Linear's work tracking system where its unique sales pitch is "write tickets for agents to work on here". The final form of this kind of solution is currently a vague, but there are several projects already pitching to own this space such as Open AI's Symphony project (https://openai.com/index/open-source-codex-orchestration-symphony/), ByteDance's DeerFlow (https://github.com/bytedance/deer-flow) which pitches itself as "an open-source super-agent harness", and other similar projects.

Fourth: developer orchestration and infrastructure. OpenAI published Symphony, an open-source spec for Codex orchestration An open-source spec for Codex orchestration: Symphony. - OpenAI, and separately discussed supercomputer networking for large-scale AI training Supercomputer networking to accelerate large scale AI training - OpenAI. The former is toolchain control. The latter is infrastructure control. Together, they show OpenAI filling both layers: workflow description on top, training and inference supply underneath.

I Ported OpenAI's Symphony to Claude Code: A Complete Build Diary
A few weeks ago, OpenAI open-sourced Symphony — an Elixir-based orchestrator that polls a project board, claims tickets, spins up Codex agents in isolated workspaces, manages multi-turn sessions, and handles retries. It's the missing piece between "AI can write code" and "AI can work through a backlog."

Show HN: VS Code Agent Kanban: Task Management for the AI-Assisted Developer
There's also https://github.com/openai/symphony that's being developed following a similar Kanban pattern based agent manager (though yours is more sophisticated at the moment imo)
Interesting to see the Kanban workflow being adapted to managing agents, makes sense; each item having the same UX as a Github Issue.
