  Im not a LLM / vibe code hater (in fact a big user) but I wonder are these people just not looking for an existing solution or do they want their own bespoke version for access to some internals and to (kind of?) learn the high level of what goes into these projects.

  If its the former, people are wasting their own time, money and energy when spending a similar amount of time searching vs prompting might yield better results for their use case. If its the latter, unless there is a killer feature, which I dont see in the github repo, why not point people to use the actively maintained project instead of the one the vibe coder is going to let die on the vine once they get bored. Its fracturing the space, for what gain? (no pun intended)

  Also how much of this code is the LLM lifting from Stellarium either indirectly in the training data or actively searching for it to reference the code in its context?

  This is very cool, and looks like it targets you wanting to look stuff up and I will probably use it at some point.

  But I feel that anyone looking at this and thinking "oh that's cool" should also try installing Stellarium (https://stellarium.org/). It lets you see what you can see in the night sky from any location/time on Earth, and is really useful for helping you identify what you're seeing in the night sky.

  I don't mean to distract from this, because it's also great. It's just a second tool that anyone with a passing interest in astronomy should be aware of.

  They're the Plieades. For future reference you can check on what's in the sky with software like Stellarium.

  I did a bit of poking around using Stellarium and found two stars that I thought were admirable candidates, and I wasn't sure why Nell and Ruggles didn't think so: Phecta and Megrez, Gamma and Delta Ursae Majoris. These are the two stars that make the left side of the 'scoop' of the big dipper. According to Stellarium they were at their closest to being in a north-south alignment in the year -2586, that is 2587 BCE, with right ascensions differing by just 1.28 s (0.00036°). They were 15° and 20° from the pole at the time.
