  Thing is there is a Play Memories alternative for Linux but it looks pretty complicate to use it. I am not a developer. I've installed Gphoto2 but I would prefer a graphical interface for it.

  I run airmtp.py or a RaspberryPi for my A6600. It basically acts like Playmemories and 'listens' for the camera to initiate a 'Send to Computer'. It takes a bit of fannying about to get the camera to 'join' it but once done it just sits and runs. Take a look here at the 'setting the GUID section: https://github.com/falk0069/sony-pm-alt.
